Graduate Chapters

Eta Mu Zeta

The Eta Mu Zeta Chapter was chartered on March 4, 1972, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Tacoma, WA. The church, pastored by Rev. Leon Horne, and his wife, Soror Willie Mae Horne, served as the founding location for the chapter. The charter members included Rita Agard, Kathleen "Billye" Carter, Ida Clark, Lois Bradford, Jean Grant, Lillian Jasper, Lola Johnson, Liz Manus, Gilda Oliver, Major Rutherford, Henrietta Stewart, and Ann Stewman. This historic chartering marked the first presence of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in Washington, Alaska, and the Pacific Northwest.

Lambda Alpha Zeta

The Lambda Alpha Zeta Chapter was chartered on September 20, 1981, in Seattle, WA. The founding members, Frances Cal, Lena Hayes, Odell Jones, Wilhelmina Patterson, and Ernestine Turner, paved the way for Zeta’s growth in the state. As the second graduate chapter in Washington, Lambda Alpha Zeta also holds the distinction of chartering the first undergraduate chapter in the state, Kappa Nu. This intergenerational and community-conscious chapter remains dedicated to upholding the principles of the sorority through service and leadership.

Pi Xi Zeta

The Pi Xi Zeta Chapter was chartered on November 22, 1996, in Kennewick, WA, by six pioneering women: Jerlinda Banks, Janean Beard, Angela Jones, Elizabeth Petersen, Anna Beard-Taylor, and Nicole Province. In 2016, the chapter was rechartered to continue serving the Inland Northwest with dedicated members across Spokane, Cheney, Pullman, and Moscow, ID. With a strong commitment to scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood, the chapter strives to impact its communities positively. Through strategic initiatives and outreach programs, Pi Xi Zeta remains a beacon of leadership and empowerment in the region.

Rho Lamba Zeta

The Rho Lambda Zeta Chapter was chartered on September 22, 1999, in SeaTac, WA. The official chartering ceremony took place at Ebenezer AME Church in Seattle on November 6, 1999, officiated by the late Pacific Regional Director, Soror Stella Bronson, and then Washington State Director, Soror Frances Cal. The charter members included Malkia Boggan, Cynthia Brown, Nui Brown, Heather Colon, Shantae Ford, Robin Hall, Shareece Hayes, Cheryl Jones, Marlena Parker, Elizabeth Peterson, and Pam Taylor. Today, the chapter boasts over 30 active members and continues to grow, fostering a legacy of excellence and service.

Psi Chi Zeta

The Psi Chi Zeta Chapter was chartered on April 14, 2011, in Fairbanks, Alaska, by five visionary women: Kimrah Brotherson, Patricia Coleman, Shawanna Givens, Lona Marioneaux-Ibanitoru, and Tia Perez. Fairbanks, known for its remote location, harsh climate, and strong Indigenous presence, posed unique challenges for the chapter’s establishment. Despite these hurdles, the chapter was founded with a steadfast commitment to addressing community needs through service, scholarship, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. Psi Chi Zeta continues to thrive, creating meaningful opportunities and resources for the residents of Alaska’s Interior while embodying the ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
