Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was established on January 16, 1920, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Since its founding, the sorority has gained national recognition through programs aimed at addressing social issues both in the U.S. and abroad.

Zeta has been a trailblazer, achieving several significant milestones. It was the first National Pan-Hellenic Council organization to establish a centralized national headquarters, the first to charter a chapter in Africa, the first to create auxiliary groups, and the first to be constitutionally linked to a fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.

The sorority remains dedicated to community improvement through volunteer work carried out by its members and auxiliaries. With over 100,000 members and hundreds of chapters worldwide, Zeta Phi Beta continues to make an impact through national and local initiatives, including the funding of its National Educational Foundation, community outreach programs, and collaborations with various partner organizations.

Its chapters and auxiliaries have dedicated countless volunteer hours to public education, youth support, scholarship programs, charitable contributions, and advocacy for social and legislative change.
